(October 28, 2013) Jackson, Tenn.- The Jackson City Board of Zoning Appeals discussed two special exception requests at their board meeting on Monday.
The first was a request by Sarah Rice to open a beauty salon at 703 North Highland Avenue.
This location was once a hair salon and then, more recently, a photography studio.
Planning staff felt that it would be compatible with the other businesses in the area. The board approved this special exception
The next special exception is for Antonia Haney and her dog care business Antonia’s Paw Spa.
She needed the special exception to provide dog boarding at the location in a B-5, or highway business, district.
She also wanted a fenced in area to walk dogs and allow them to use the restroom in a privacy fenced in area.
Though the planning staff originally decided against the fencing because of green space requirements, the board decided in favor of it.
The board made and passed a motion to have a privacy fence installed with greenery planted in front of it, no dogs in the fenced in area unattended, and a maximum of 15 dogs boarded overnight inside the building.
The board also approved an awning for Cooks Pest Control on Riverport Drive.
