JACKSON, Tenn. — Lawrence Pierce today announced his candidacy for Mayor of Jackson in the 2027 municipal election, launching a campaign centered on stronger neighborhoods, accountable leadership, excellent public schools, and a city where families can build their future.

“Jackson deserves leadership that listens, works, and puts people first,” said Pierce. “I am running for mayor because I believe our city’s best days are ahead of us—but we must be willing to bring every neighborhood into that future. Our campaign is about one Jackson: a city where every voice matters, every family has opportunity, and every child can thrive.”

Pierce’s campaign will focus on practical, community-centered priorities:

– Stronger public schools and families: Working with school, county, state, business, and community partners to support safe, high-quality public education that gives families confidence to remain in Jackson.
– Neighborhood investment: Ensuring that every part of the city is heard, respected, and included in decisions about growth, services, safety, and quality of life.
– Economic opportunity: Supporting local businesses, workforce development, and pathways that help residents earn, build, and stay in Jackson.
– Open, accountable city government: Making city leadership more accessible and responsive, with a clear belief that power belongs to the people through civic participation and the vote.
– A future built together: Bringing residents, educators, entrepreneurs, faith leaders, young people, and community organizations to the same table to solve problems collaboratively.

“Too many families feel they must look elsewhere for opportunity, education, and a better quality of life,” Pierce said. “We can change that. When we strengthen our schools, support our neighborhoods, and create real opportunity, we give people a reason to stay, invest, and believe in Jackson again.”

Jackson’s next municipal mayoral election is scheduled for May 2027.

Pierce said the campaign will begin with a citywide listening effort, inviting residents from every neighborhood to share their concerns, priorities, and ideas for Jackson’s future.

“This will not be a campaign built behind closed doors,” Pierce said. “It will be built in our neighborhoods, at kitchen tables, in small businesses, and wherever Jackson residents gather. One voice, one vision, one vote, one Jackson.”
