Third Conviction In Owens, Shivers Double Homicide

JACKSON Tenn – A Jackson man is sentenced in the 2014, north Jackson, double murder of University of Arkansas football player Markel Owens, and his stepfather.

On Tuesday, Rodarrous Bond faced sentencing after being previously convicted of conspiring to kill Owens mother and her teenage son. The two had been witnesses to the double murder.

According to prosecutors, Johnny Wade called Rodarrous Bond from jail and directed him to kill Chermaine Owens-Shivers and her son.

The two were present when Wade and another man killed Johnny Shivers and Markel Owens, during a robbery.

Bond was convicted of two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

Madison County Circuit Court Judge Kyle Atkins sentenced Bond to 23-years to serve concurrent. Bond will serve approximately seven years before he is eligible for parole.
