As part of the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations package, David Kustoff, United States representative from Tennessee’s 8th congressional District, has secured $1,250,000 for campus security upgrades at University of Memphis Lambuth campus.
This funding will be used for improving campus safety, accessibility, and the quality of the learning environment.
On October 9, plans for a medical school at the University of Memphis Lambuth campus are underway.
The medical school will produce physicians who would become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is a fully licensed physician who practices a holistic approach to healthcare. DOs concentrate on treating the whole person rather than just specific symptoms, emphasizing the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. They are trained in all areas of medicine, including family medicine, surgery, and pediatrics, and utilize osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) as part of their practice.
Physicians in West Tennessee and areas around Memphis tend to practice in areas where they finished their residency.
