Business Spotlight – Kayla Stone joins Town & Country REALTORS

Town & Country REALTORS is thrilled to welcome Kayla Stone to Jackson’s No. 1 residential real estate firm.

Originally from Dyersburg, Tennessee, Stone has called Jackson home since 2019 and is ready to put down deeper roots by serving the community she loves.

“I wanted a career change to something I would truly enjoy,” Stone said. “I chose real estate because I love helping people and getting to see and learn about all of the different properties out there.”

Stone brings a background rooted in customer service and hands-on work, having spent years in fast food and factory environments in assembly and packaging — experience that shaped her work ethic and genuine care for the people she serves.

Her path to Town & Country started before she even had her license.

“Town & Country decided to support and encourage me even before I got my license,” Stone said. “They assured me there would be plenty of training and help along the way, and they have lived up to that more than I could have ever imagined.”

Rebuild begins at Allied Hose & Belting Company, Inc. on North Conalco Drive

JACKSON, Tenn. — The first steps of a rebuild at Allied Hose & Belting Company, Inc., 40 N. Conalco Drive, are noticeable.

The remains of a building destroyed by a February 2026 fire are being removed to make way for a new facility.

The company is a fabricator and light manufacturer serving West Tennessee, Western Kentucky, parts of Missouri, Alabama, and Mississippi within a 75-to-100-mile service radius.

Allied is part of RAGCO (Rubber and Gasket Companies), a buying group that has grown from 53 to 73 locations and is now expanding westward to Oregon. The company stocks a broad range of industrial maintenance items — felt, leather, cork, non-asbestos materials, red rubber, conveyor belting and hydraulic hose and fittings — with hydraulic hose and fittings alone accounting for roughly 35% of business locally.

Since the fire, Allied Hose & Belting Company, LLC, has been operating out of a 7,500-square-foot temporary space about 250 yards north on the same street at 145 N. Conalco Drive — down from 11,000 square feet at the original location — and steering a rebuild that will be finished – at the earliest – in February, 2027.

Wide variety of programs, affordability fuel Tennessee College of Applied Technology’s growth in popularity

Tennessee College of Applied Technology or better known as TCAT, continues to see a rise in admissions. During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, technical colleges saw a 4.9% increase in enrollment rates while universities saw a 0.6% decline.

Located at 2468 Technology Center Drive near the Jackson Regional Airport, TCAT offers a wide variety of programs for students to choose from including technical training, allied health programs, industrial programs and service industry with many different concentrations in each. Many of these programs only take one year to complete with the longest being one-and-a-half years.

Karen Larsen, TCAT vice president for instruction and institutional effectiveness, gave Golden Media Group insight on TCAT Jackson admission rates post Covid-19.

“Across the post-secondary spectrum you saw an enrollment decrease through post-covid, TCATs statewide did not experience that enrollment decrease,” Larsen said. “In fact I think we saw more of an enrollment increase, from fall of 2024 to fall of 2025 our enrollment increased by about 11% almost 12.”

If you’re a recent university graduate or know someone that’s a recent grad, you might’ve heard at some point about struggling to find a job in the current market. However, 86% of students that graduate from a technical college are easily able to find jobs in their field due to the high demand of those degrees. At TCAT, their benchmark for employment after graduation is 70% of students, a benchmark that they have continued to surpass.

Technical colleges also tend to be extremely more affordable than a four-year program. Tennessee’s government has continued to make scholarships available, specifically for technical colleges.

The average cost for university tuition is currently around $10,000 to $11,000 while technical college tuition is around $5,000 to $10,000. Making a degree more affordable and attainable for those that want to receive a degree – but can’t quite afford a four-year university.

Business Spotlight – Yvette Ramirez joins Town & Country REALTORS

Town & Country REALTORS is thrilled to welcome Yvette Ramirez to Jackson’s No. 1 residential real estate firm.

Born in Hidalgo, Mexico and raised in Jackson, Tennessee, Ramirez brings a deeply personal mission to her new career; one rooted in empathy, service, and breaking down barriers for those navigating the real estate process.

“I chose to become a real estate agent to help people navigate their real estate journey, with a special focus on supporting individuals who may struggle with a language barrier,” Ramirez said. “I want to create a comfortable experience where they feel heard, understood, and fully informed to make the best decision.”

Ramirez comes to Town & Country with a background in the trades, having earned a construction trade diploma and an equipment operator’s license during her time at Lowe’s. This experience gave her a practical, grounded understanding of the homes she’ll help her clients buy and sell.
