The Salvation Army has partnered with the Jackson-Madison County School System to launch a remote learning and tutoring program at its community center at 125 Allen Avenue in Jackson.
Through the new program, Alexander School students without Internet access at home can continue their education at The Salvation Army three days each week.
The students’ parents opted for remote learning for their children rather than having them in school out of an abundance of caution over COVID-19.
JMCSS is providing transportation, laptop computers, and educational workbooks. The Salvation Army is providing the remote learning site, school supplies, and tutors to help the children succeed in learning.
“It’s a blessing for us to partner with the Jackson-Madison County Schools and provide this important program for families,” said Lt. Mark Cancia, Corps Officer for the Salvation Army of Jackson, “With school being online, the Salvation Army recognizes that a little support goes a long way.
“Three days a week, students that attend receive two meals, a safe space, and educational support from tutors.”
