Something old and something new will highlight the new Mulligan’s Restaurant & Bar at 1364 Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms, which opens at 11 a.m., Saturday.
Owner Mary Truett said there’s additional square footage and an expanded menu (limited Saturday) at the new Mulligan’s, but she has also been asked more than once about the iconic bar that was a focal point when the restaurant was located 1037 Union University Drive.
“We’ve had a 1,000 questions … “Are you going to move the old bar?” Yes, we are,”” Mary said, laughing. “The old bar came from Ireland, and it’s at least 100 years old. It’s a touch of the old at the new location.”
There will be smoking and non-smoking areas, a patio and 21 flat screen televisions.
Mary, who has owned Mulligan’s for about eight years, decided she wanted the restaurant to occupy its own real estate, and this was another way she was investing in the community.
Designed by architect Bemis Atkins, Mulligan’s will have an authentic Irish flavor and is located next to Pure Barre in the Union Station development.
Brasfield Construction Company built the new 5,000-square-foot facility.
