Following a flurry of openings in the restaurant industry in Jackson this past week, activity has only paused to catch its breath, before it resumes – according to one local developer.
Gary Taylor, president of Gary A. Taylor Investment Company, said most new restaurants are known as Quick Serve Restaurants (QSR’s), which are very popular in today’s market.
It’s a trend he sees continuing.
“Only 20 percent of the millennials like cooking at home, so yes, this will be a continuing trend,” Taylor said. “We are talking with several QSR’s. The sit down restaurants are struggling with sales, so most of them are not expanding.”
The Blacksmith Bar & Grill, 216 North Shannon Street, opened Monday, October 2, a few hours after 731 Sport Bar & Grill welcomed the public to 603 Vann Drive.
Two days later, Steak Escape debuted at 1430 Union University Drive.
The following day, Cracker Barrel re-opened after closing for three days for a little cosmetic work.
The activity seems like an eternity since Burger King opened at 2553 Christmasville Cove, September 18.
The restaurant – located in Park Place West across Dr. F.E. Wright Drive from the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex and the Ballpark at Jackson – is the fifth in Jackson.
