Reinforces the college’s commitment to student health and wellbeing
JACKSON, TN – This Fall, all enrolled Jackson State Community College (JSCC) students will now receive free telehealth medical and mental health care along with safety services through app-based service SafeWell.
SafeWell, a market-leader in personal safety and essential healthcare, will be provided to students at no cost, giving them access to free safety, medical and mental health services during their time at JSCC via their mobile device. Through the app, students will receive the following benefits
- Primary and acute care medical services with $0 copay and unlimited visits
- Mental and emotional support counseling 24/7 with $0 copay
- Crisis intervention for stress, anxiety, panic attacks, and other emotional health
- $0 copay for over 200 common generic acute care medications
- Personal safety tools to help alert friends and family in emergency situations
- Ability to alert Campus Police directly from the app when on-campus, closest local authority when off-campus.
- Ability to submit safety information directly to Campus Police
- Receive weather and safety-related alerts based on geographic locations when not on the college campus
- And more!
As an added benefit, the services offered to JSCC students through the app are also extended to up to four immediate family members at no additional cost. Family members can utilize the same $0 copays, personal safety tools, and more while the student is enrolled at the college.
“We care deeply about our students both inside and outside of the classroom,” said Dean for Students Dr. Paul Morgan. “In order for them to do and be their best, we have to give them the tools to do so. We don’t want a student to have to choose between getting the medical care they need and paying their bills or taking care of other responsibilities. This service is our commitment to help alleviate that burden to themselves and their families so they can come to class knowing we are there for them.”
Students enrolled at the college, with the exception of Dual Enrollment and Middle College students, can access the service on the device of their choosing through the SAFE4R App in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
