A team effort – Toyota Bodine refurbishes Liberty Garden Park & Arboretum

Toyota Bodine Jackson team members joined Keep Jackson Beautiful and the City of Jackson to refurbish Liberty Garden Park & Arboretum to mark National Public Lands Day Saturday, September
30.

The Arboretum is a 14.5 acre living memorial to 9/11/2001 and a tribute to this nation and the resilience of the American people.

The groups took on many different projects including creating a Children’s Labyrinth, replanting gardens, landscaping, and a general clean-up of the park.

Toyota Bodine team members also pruned trees, trimmed and edged the lawn along walkways and “The Labyrinth,” moved and spread sand to the Children’s Play Area, raked leaves, and replanted gardens and landscapes

“Considering the solemn nature of the memorials in this park, it holds a special place in the heart of this community,” said Bodine president Bob Lloyd. “We are very pleased to be able to help maintain this treasured green space and to commemorate National Public Lands Day in this way.”

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands.

Held annually on the fourth Saturday of each September, NPLD brings together hundreds of thousands of individual and organization volunteers to help restore the country’s public lands.

Toyota has been the national corporate sponsor of NPLD since 1999.

“I have gladly participated in National Public Lands Day at Liberty Gardens Park for six years,” said Bodine team member Ronnie Britt. “I love working for a company that uses its resources to improve our community. Our partnership with Liberty Garden Park has resulted in many wonderful changes including development of the children’s area, sitting areas and the veteran’s memorial plaza.”
