The quarterly Women in Business Luncheon held Thursday brought out 150 women from across Madison County to network and tour the new Dream Center on Old Humboldt Road.
The ladies enjoyed the Valentine’s Day theme and heard from executive Director Gail Gustafson about the work at the Center to house, clothe, and feed women who are at a critical point in their lives for various reasons. The transitional facility is to help them become self sufficient in every aspect of their lives.
“Anybody every need a do-over? This is a do-over place and if you’re willing to put in the work you can accomplish your goals,” said Gustafson.
Currently there are over fifty residents at The Dream Center, twenty-seven of them are children. Gustafson says it is such a joy for the kids to have a place to play outside and ride their bikes in a safe area. The next big goal is to build a gymnasium to house activities in the winter and on rainy days.
The Dream Center event space holds up to 150 and is available to rent as a venue for family reunions or other gatherings. Catering can be done on sight or meals can be catered from local vendors.
