YOUTH PEACE & JUSTICE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES UP TO $5,000 REWARD AND EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND FOLLOWING DEADLY HAYWOOD COUNTY PROM-RELATED SHOOTING
BROWNSVILLE, TN / HAYWOOD COUNTY, TN — The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, also known as The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, announced today an immediate response initiative following a deadly mass shooting in Haywood County, Tennessee, that occurred during a pre-prom gathering for local high school students.
The Foundation confirmed it is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for credible information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of the individual or individuals responsible for the attack.
The incident occurred Friday evening at Webb Banks Passive Park in Brownsville, where students had gathered for pre-prom photographs ahead of events connected to Haywood High School.
According to law enforcement reporting, gunfire erupted shortly after more than 100 students and vehicles were gathered at the park. Five individuals were struck by gunfire.
Authorities confirmed that one student, identified as Saturah Hayes, was killed. Four additional victims were transported to area hospitals, with one reported to be in critical condition.
As of this release, no arrests have been made and the suspect or suspects remain at large. Investigators are actively working the case.
“This was a night that should have been filled with celebration, friendship, and milestone memories,” said Daniel Chapin, Founder and President of the Foundation. “Instead, a family is grieving the loss of a child, others are fighting to recover from injuries, and an entire community is in shock. We are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately. This is exactly why the reward has been increased—to help bring answers and accountability.”
The Foundation stated that the reward is intended to support active investigative efforts and encourage community cooperation with law enforcement.
In addition to the reward, the Foundation has launched an emergency relief and crisis response initiative to support affected students, families, and the broader Haywood County community.
Support services being mobilized include:
* 24-hour crisis response support
* Youth peer support services
* Licensed grief and trauma counselors
* Emergency stabilization assistance
* Referrals for long-term mental health care and recovery services
Local officials and school leadership have also begun coordinating counseling support for students and staff impacted by the tragedy.
“Our teams have responded to many communities facing sudden and devastating violence,” Chapin added. “What we know is that the impact extends far beyond the scene itself. Students, families, and entire school communities carry this trauma forward, and immediate as well as sustained support is essential.”
The Foundation confirmed that funds raised through the emergency campaign may assist with:
* Immediate family emergency needs
* Funeral and memorial-related support
* Transportation and stabilization assistance
* Trauma counseling and recovery resources
* Community healing and youth support initiatives
