Union’s Gray Campbell climbs leaderboard in 2nd round of NCAA D2 Men’s Golf National Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Union University senior men’s golfer Gray Campbell has climbed 33 spots through 15 holes in the second round of the 2025 NCAA D2 Men’s Golf National Championship, South/Southeast Regional.

Campbell’s round was suspended until 6:00 a.m. Central Saturday morning with him sitting in 17th place and holes 16-18 left to play in round two. The 3-round event is being played at Mission Inn Resort – El Campeon and includes 107 golfers.

Campbell posted a first-round 74 (+2), putting him in a tie for 50th place after the first 18 holes.

Through 15 holes in round two, Campbell is 3-under par including a front nine that produced three birdies and six pars. He started the back nine with three straight pars, then a bogey on 13, a birdie on 14, and another par on 15. Then rain halted the round with a few golfers left to finish second round early Saturday morning.

The final round will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (Central), Saturday.

To advance to the NCAA D2 Men’s Golf National Championship Tournament, Campbell must finish as one of two individuals in the regional not on an advancing team. Friday’s second round gives the senior golfer a shot on the last day to become Union’s first ever NCAA D2 National Championship final site participant.
