TSBA Recognizes JMCSS School Board At Fall District Meeting

PRESS RELEASE
 
(September 10, 2013, Jackson, TN) – On September 3, 2013 at the Southwest Fall District 
Meeting for the Tennessee School Board Association, the Jackson-Madison County School 
Board was recognized as a 100% Board. All the Jackson-Madison County School Board 
members were in attendance at the meeting along with Superintendent Ruffin. Nine fall 
meetings are held across the state of Tennessee with this year’s Southwest District meeting 
being hosted by Chester County High School.
 
Several additional awards announced at the meeting included other district members. 
Jonathan Greer, student at Madison Academic, received the Student Recognition Award. 
Tanji Tyson, parent at Jackson Central-Merry Academy of Medical Technology, received the 
School Volunteer Award. Also included in the recognition were School Board members, 
Janice Hampton for the Level I Boardsmanship Award, Dr. Joe Mays and Bob Alvey for the 
Level V Boardsmanship Award and Bob Alvey for serving as Southern Region Director of the 
National School Boards Association Board of Directors (NSBA). 
 
The TSBA is a non-profit, private service organization whose mission is to assist school 
boards in effectively governing school districts. TSBA provides school board members a 
collective voice in matters of legislation and public education concerns. All TSBA programs, 
meetings and services are designed to help school boards and their members to better serve 
the children of their school system.
