From the University School of Jackson –
In recognition of his outstanding achievements on and off the football field, the University School of Jackson retired Trey Smith’s jersey during a special ceremony during halftime of the USJ and ECS game, Friday.
The jersey retirement ceremony is an acknowledgment of Trey Smith’s contributions to our school and the enduring legacy he has left behind. It is a fitting tribute to a player who not only excelled on the field but also inspired and uplifted his teammates and the entire USJ community.
Earlier in the day, Smith, an offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, was honored by the city of Three Way, when the community proclaimed October 13, 2023 ‘Trey Smith Day.’
There was also an unveiling of a new sign that states ‘Welcome to the City of Three Way, Home of Super Bowl LVII Champ Trey Smith.’
The signage will greet drivers as they enter the City limits.
Smith, a 2017 University School of Jackson graduate and the nation’s No. 1 high school football recruit in 2016, played college football at the University of Tennessee and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th Round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He has started all 33 games of his NFL career at guard and in the 2022 season, took home his first Super Bowl ring.
