MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee man charged with murder in the death of a man over the weekend had been charged with killing a teenager four years ago.
Memphis police say 21-year-old Ryan Winston is currently charged with the shooting death of Tyler Gurien on Friday night. Two others, 24-year-old Mark Whitley and 28-year-old Jonathan Bolden, are also charged with murder in Gurien's death.
Police told The Commercial Appeal that Winston faced charges four years ago in the death of Rozelle Green Jr., who died in 2009 after a fight at Hamilton High School that involved about 150 students.
Records indicate that the charges against Winston in that case were ultimately reduced to accessory after the fact, but do not give a reason for the reduction.
