NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee delegates to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland ended up voting for the candidates they were pledged to.
Earlier Tuesday, there was speculation that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio might release their delegates from their obligation to vote for them. That didn’t happen.
State Sen. Mae Beavers, who chairs the Tennessee delegation, read the votes Tuesday evening: 33 for Donald Trump, 16 for Cruz and 9 for Rubio.
Tennessee’s votes came after Trump had clinched the nomination.
