JACKSON Tenn (November 10, 2014) — At the request of the family of 20-year-old Cinque D’Jahspora, Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser has requested Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conduct an independent examination of the facts surrounding the shooting death of their son.
According to the investigation report, Officer Raymond Dewayne Bond shot Cinque 20-year-old D’Jahspora, of Jackson, after D’Jahspora attacked and stabbed him.
According to D’Jahspora family attorney Christopher Butternut, the family was prevented by law enforcement from being with their son at the hospital, have not been able to review evidence with law enforcement, and have suspicions based in part on a hospital report they say shows their son was shot in the back.
Based upon the family request Chief Wiser submitted letters to both the local District Attorney’s office and to TBI Director Mark Gwynn requesting the Bureau look at the case. Wiser said he is confident in his department’s work but wants to take whatever steps are necessary to assure the family and the community of the thoroughness of the investigation
