New hotel scheduled for construction on Vann Drive
If plans go as expected, a new Tru Hotel by Hilton will be constructed on a corner lot off Vann Drive on .40 acres at 1132 Rushmeade Road.
Amenities will include a 24/7 market and a fitness center.
The facility will join Hilton Garden Inn, 1324 Vann Drive, the Howard Johnson Inn, 1292 Vann Drive, and the Fairfield Inn & Suites, 1335 Vann Drive, on the west side of Vann Drive.
Tru Hotel by Hilton has five locations in Tennessee – Nashville, Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Pigeon Forge and Smyrna.

Jackson Beer Board approves 1 permit, fines 3, suspends 1
The City of Jackson Beer Permit Board approved one request for a permit, suspended one beer license and fined three additional businesses during a Show Cause Hearing at the City Council Chambers, Wednesday.
A & A Stop, 1425 South Highland Avenue, had its license suspended for 30 days for selling beer to underage informants twice.
Hollywood Market, Inc. (Valaro), 2089 Hollywood Drive, was fined $1,000 for selling to an underage – over 18, under 21 – informant.
Hollywood Market, Inc., also faces a 30-day suspension, which will be suspended if the fine is paid in a period of seven days.
Southside Express, Inc. (Valaro), 1353 South Highland Avenue, and Jackson T Stop LLC, doing business as Save N Go (BP), 2268 Hollywood Drive, were fined $500 for selling beer to an underage informant.
Both businesses face a 30-day suspension, which will be suspended if the fine is paid in a period of seven days.
Paula Kim Rundles request for a beer permit for a business known as PKR LLC DBA Cody’s, 60 Heritage Square, for selling, storing and serving beer on the premises where sold.

REAL ESTATE – Market report for Jackson-Madison County

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson in July stood at 31, compared to 33 for the same period in 2018.
New construction homes sold January 1 through July 31, was 84, compared to 70 for the same period in 2018.
The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through July 31, stood at 294.
Average days on the market – January 1 through July 31, was 55.
The average sales price for a home for July was $172,716 compared to $170,139 for July 2018.
