REAL ESTATE – Market report for Jackson-Madison County

Wes Harris, State Farm Insurance Agent – home, auto, life & banking – 319 Vann Drive, sponsors the Real Estate Market Report.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson in June stood at 27, compared to 27 for the same period in 2018.

New construction homes sold January 1 through June 30, was 76, compared to 62 for the same period in 2018.

The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through June 30, stood at 260.

Average days on the market – January 1 through June 30, was 57.

The average sales price for a home for June was $166,251 compared to $170,139 for June 2018.

Business Spotlight – Blake Davis joins Town & Country REALTORS

In its efforts to provide the best real estate services to Jackson and beyond, veteran-owned Town & Country REALTORS recently welcomes its newest agent, Jackson native Blake Davis.

According to a press release from Lyndsay Best, a Digital Solutionist with B3 Creative Agency, Blake will be joining the Jay Grant Team as he develops his real estate career.

“It’s so great to be a part of a local business hiring local REALTORS to serve local clients,” Blake said. “Jackson, as well as the wider West Tennessee area, is home to us. It’s easy to serve clients when you love where you are.”

Blake is a graduate of Liberty Tech Magnet High School, and, in addition to his military service, he is a career fireman, having graduated from the Tennessee Fire Academy in 2013. He chose to make a career switch to real estate thanks to his natural love for marketing, customer service, and the housing market itself.

Business Spotlight – Claude Pirtle, M.D. joins West Tennessee Medical Group

West Tennessee Medical Group recently welcomed Claude Pirtle, M.D., internal medicine physician and Associate Chief Medical Information Officer.

According to a press release, Dr. Pirtle comes from Nashville, where he completed a clinical informatics fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He received his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. In addition, he completed his Master of Science in Applied Clinical Informatics at Vanderbilt. Dr. Pirtle will work with physicians to improve their experience and efficiency with the electronic health record.

“I am excited to be part of the West Tennessee Healthcare family, and I look forward to working with patients and clinicians to make their experience with our system the best that it can be,” said Dr. Pirtle.

He is committed to providing comprehensive care for men and women. In addition to preventive medicine, Dr. Pirtle is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. He offers annual exams, sick visits and health screenings.
Restaurant, convenience store approved for permits by Jackson Beer Board
The Jackson Beer Permit Board approved four requests during a meeting in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, Tuesday.

Jian Fei Liu was approved for a business known as Hana Sushi, 1363 University Drive, Suite H, for selling, storing and serving beer on the premises where sold.

Rihana Abdullahi was approved for a business known as Neighbor Food Mart, 1430 East Chester Street, for selling, storing and distributing beer for consumption off the premises.

Randy S. Hall was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer during the Jamie Johnson Concert, which will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, Saturday.

The Beer Permit Board also approved a store manager change request for Food Giant, 2596 Christmasville Cove.

The meeting was the first for new Beer Board members Johnny Dodd, Russ McKelvey and Gary Pickens.

Johnny Dodd was selected as chairman.

OHANA – Sushi Hibachi & Poke Bowl – opens in Thomsen Farms

OHANA – a new Asian restaurant – has opened at 1363 Union University Drive Unit H, in Thomsen Farms.

A few of the menu items will include sushi, hibachi and poke bowls.

The restaurant, which also has a patio, is leasing 2,000-square-feet from Ann-Marie Kelley from FirstChoice Property & Development.

Business hours are 10:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Fridays; 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sundays.

Management also owns Jiang Jun – Chinese and Japanese Restaurant – 2574 Christmasville Cove in Park Place West, which is off Dr. F.E. Wright Drive.
