Business Note – Riley Ragan joins Town & Country Realtors

Jackson native Riley Ragan has joined Town & Country Realtors.

According to a press release, Riley joined Town & Country Realtors in January, continuing a family tradition.

Riley’s great grandfather was a realtor, and his mother, Brandi Ragan also sells for Town & Country Realtors.

During the past couple of years, Riley accompanied Brandi to different properties in order to learn more about real estate.

“It is such an honor to work with Riley,” Brandi Ragan said, “As a mother, I’m so grateful he chose to continue his family’s legacy. I have no doubt that he will make a great real estate agent and serve our community well.”

A 2017 graduate of Jackson Christian School, Riley enrolled at Bethel University, where he was a member of the baseball team, before transferring to Jackson State Community College.

“I believe Jackson is the best place to begin my career, because this is where I grew up and where my parents both grew up,” Riley said. “So my sphere of influence is a lot larger here in Jackson.”

Joey Hale, owner of Town & Country Realtors, views Riley as a natural for the Jackson real estate market.

“We’re extremely excited to have Riley as part of the Town and Country family,” Joey said, “We know he will do well, especially since he’s interacted with the real estate community from a very young age.”

For over 50 years, Town & Country Realtors has been serving the West Tennessee community with excellence and integrity.

“What excites me most about working for Town & Country Realtors is having great mentors like Joey and Katie Hale who truly want to see me succeed,” Riley said, “I’m also eager to learn from the industry’s best realtors.”

B3 Creative Agency opens

B3 Creative Agency, which officially opened its doors in Jackson at Carriage Hill Office Park, 386 Carriage House Drive, January 1, is owned by Stephanie Riley, and exists to champion small to medium businesses by providing them with a 360 degree approach to branding – as well as conventional marketing services.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Jackson business community and look forward to helping business owners market their brands” said Stephanie Riley, Brand Futurist and Founder, “I’m excited about what the future holds for us and am very proud of the team we’ve built.”

In addition to helping businesses launch or revitalize their brand image, B3 completes the circle of branding by ending with the company’s most important asset — its employees.

“With our 360 degree branding approach, we want to help companies understand that real success lies within its people,” Riley said, “You can have effective marketing, but if you’re not cultivating an environment that champions and engages your employees, your branding is incomplete.

“It’s crucial the people interacting with customers understand and carryout your brand’s mission.

When you think of local businesses that are doing it right, they always have highly engaged employees that understand why what they do matters.”

‘It’s been a good run’ – Scates, Inc., closes

A new car carried a price tag of $900 and the cost of a gallon of gasoline was 15 cents the year Scates Inc., Automotive Repair & Service opened at 318 Airways Blvd., August 15, 1943.

Fast-forward 75 years, and the family-owned business, located at 382 Airways Blvd., has closed.

“My wife, Ann and I, have five grandchildren – three in Knoxville and two in Jackson, and when you run a business you have to commit 100 percent to it,” Phillip Evans said, “And when you’re our age, there’s things more important than running a business.”

Phillip said the business first opened in the vicinity of where Kenny Pipe and Supply is now located on Airways Boulevard.

In 1984, Scates Inc., moved into its 12,000-square-foot facility at 382 Airways Boulevard.

“The business was started in 1943 by Ann’s grandfather, and when Ann’s father and her uncle returned from the war, they came to work and bought (grandfather) out,” Phillip said, “In 1973, I came to work for them and did radiator repair work.

“We weren’t in full automotive at that time, but in the early ’80s we went into full automotive repair -specializing mostly in air conditioning and cooling systems.”

“Sometime in the ’90s, her father decided to retire, and I bought out his half of the business, and it’s been Ann and I ever since.”

Phillip said it’s the customers he and Ann will miss the most.

“Our customers are some of the best in Jackson,” Phillip said, “But, we’re going to be around, and if they need questions answered, we’ll point them in the right direction.

“It’s been a good run.”
