CANStruction – Toyota Bodine wins ‘Best of Show’ at RIFA fundraiser

This is getting to be a habit.

Team members of Toyota Bodine won ‘Best of Show’ for the third time in the last four years, when awards were presented by the Regional Inter-Faith Association during its 14th annual CANstruction fundraiser at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, Thursday.

Toyota Bodine used 5,500 canned good items to build The Ballpark at Jackson, and a hand holding a baseball before making a pitch to ‘Strikeout Hunger.’

“We’re proud of our association with RIFA, supporting them in their mission leading our community’s fight against hunger,” Shawn Daly said. “The real benefit of CANstruction is raising awareness of the hunger issue, and RIFA’s activities to combat hunger.”

Shawn Daly is the general manager and plant manager at Toyota Bodine Jackson.

“RIFA serves 8,000 meals a week in our community.”

The competition attracted 13 teams consisting of businesses, industries and youth groups that built structures completely out of canned goods which were donated to RIFA following the event.

“We’ve gone to an LED type light,” said Jim Ferrell, president/CEO of Jackson Energy Authority, “This light has a lot less maintenance and a very long lifespan.
