In case you missed it, here’s a look back at a few business highlights for the past week.
Update on former Sears Auto Center at Old Hickory Mall
Exterior work taking place at a former Sears Auto Center – 2021 North Highland Avenue – is not in preparation for a new tenant.
According to Tracy Sudzum, manager at the Old Hickory Mall, the building suffered wind damage from a recent storm, and damage is being repaired.
Madison South Shopping Plaza $old
According to the Madison County Register of Deeds, Madison South Shopping Plaza has a new owner.
Nelwyn W. Inman SUC TR etal Weisser and Shupack Associates LTD, sold the property at 1688 South Highland Ave., to NCB Florida Real Estate LLC, for $2,400,000.
Management could not be reached for comment.
Businesses in the shopping center include Dollar General, Fred’s, Tobacco Place II and Elite Vapor.
Advance Financial – Construction continues on second Jackson location
When construction is complete, Advance Financial will open at 2180 South Highland Avenue, next to Meridian Plaza.
The location will be the second for the company which offers Flex Loans as well as wire transfer, bill payment, and unlimited free money orders.
Advance Financial is also located at 2287 North Highland Avenue.
The financial center, founded in 1996, is family-owned and operated in Nashville.
Remodeling set for retailer in West Towne Commons
About two dozen shipping containers have been placed on the parking lot at West Towne Commons that will be used for inventory when Target remodels its retail location at 93 Stonebrook Place.
Management at Target was not specific when asked the extent of the remodeling, which is scheduled to begin at the end of July.
The store will remain open during the remodeling and business hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Le Bonheur adding new sculpture to facility on Vann Drive
You can’t tell it by looking at it right now, but once a few metal objects are welded together and painted, a new piece of art work will be on display at Le Bonheur Children’s Outpatient Center at 1535 Vann Drive.
The sculpture – which is being constructed in the west parking lot – is a heart, and will be located on the south side of the facility.
Le Bonheur Children’s Outpatient Center, which opened January 16, consists of 30,000 square feet, 20 examination rooms, and a variety of diagnostic services including lab, X-ray, untrasound, EKG, EEG, ECHO and pulmonary function testing.
A dedicated space is available for families to connect with a wide range of pediatric subspecialists.
Subspecialty Clinics include cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, genetics, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology and urology, with access to more subspecialists at Le Bonheur via telemedicine.
Business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Checkers opens on Carriage House Drive
Checkers Drive-Thru Restaurant opened at 620 Carriage House Drive, today.
Menu items will include hamburgers, fries, hot dogs, chicken, fish, wings, ice cream and soft drinks for the restaurant, which is one of the largest chains of double drive-thru restaurants in the United States.
The restaurant is co-owned by Jackson businessmen Riad Razeq and Ziyad Qaadan, and is located between Logan’s Roadhouse and O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar.
Restaurant hours are 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 3 a.m., Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to midnight, Sundays.
