In case you missed it, here’s a look back at a few business highlights for the past week.

Conner Real Estate holds grand opening in Thomsen Farms

With seven agents available, Conner Real Estate introduced itself to Jackson and Madison County with a grand opening at its 409 Walker Road location, Friday.

Joey Conner owns Conner Real Estate, LLC, which was established in Brownsville, July 5, 2011, and is located at 225 Margin Street.

“We decided to open an agency here, because we were doing business here,” Joey Conner said. “We already had a team in place, and it made the transition easier.”

Business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Conner Real Estate, which is leasing 1,266-square-feet from FirstChoice Property & Development, joins CCSI – Computer Consulting Services, Bliss Salon, a hair salon which offers the latest cuts, colors and hair styles, and Belle & Beau, a children’s boutique, at the Thomsen Farms location.

Coyote Blues closing Stonebridge Boulevard location

Coyotes Blues, 4 Stonebridge Blvd., ends an era when management closes the popular restaurant at 10 p.m., Friday, March 23.

The company sold the Stonebridge Boulevard location for $1,490,000 in September, 2017.

While negotiating a lease for another location, Coyote Blues will continue to have a presence in Jackson with its Food Truck, and the company will also continue to cater.

Jackson Chamber celebrates all things business during annual event

Toyota Bodine Aluminum engineered its way to the Industry of the Year award, during the Jackson Chamber’s 2017 Annual Celebration at the Carl Grant Events Center at Union University, Thursday.

“We are proud of our team members for the award … from the Jackson Chamber’s annual celebration,” said Shawn Daly, plant manager at Toyota Bodine Aluminum in Jackson, “It’s a wonderful reflection on our team members, and their accomplishments.”

The Jackson Chamber’s Annual Celebration honors businesses, industries and non-profit organizations.

Toys R Us Jackson location one of 704 stores parent company is closing nationally

An announcement in the fall of 2017 was followed by the announcement Wednesday, that Toys R Us will close all 740 retail stores in the United States, including its location at 2139 North Highland Avenue.

The number of jobs affected is estimated to be in the range of 30,000, but it is not known how many people Toys R Us in Jackson employed.

Management could not be reached for comment.

Interiors Inc. opens in Thomsen Farms

Interiors Inc., has opened in Thomsen Farms at 1319 Suite B Union University Drive, next to Polished Salon and The Corner Boutique.

Interiors Inc. offers a showroom for the public, but they also have designers who work out of the new location.

Kelly Smith, who owns Kelly and Company and Interiors Inc., has been in the design business since 1987.

REAL ESTATE – Market report for Jackson-Madison County

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson from January 1 through February 28, stood at 41, compared to 55 for the same period in 2017.

New construction homes sold – January 1 through February 28 of 2018 was 12, compared to 15 for the same period in 2017.

The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County, stands at 290, compared to 386 for the same period in 2017.

Average days on the market – January 1 through February 28 of 2018 is 65.

The average sales price for a home in February 2018 was $156,461.

Tacos 4 Life Grill nears opening on Vann Drive

Tacos 4 Life Grill is scheduled to open on Vann Drive in late May.

MG Construction of Jackson is building the 3,900-square-foot facility.

Headquartered in Conway, Arkansas, Tacos 4 Life Grill offers a unique concept, with 22 cents of each taco sold goes toward feeding the hungry around the world.

Franchises are located in Conway (2), Fayetteville, Little Rock, Benton and Searcy.

Besides Tennessee, the company is expanding into Texas and North Carolina.

New construction on Airways Boulevard

Unless you are headed toward McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport or the Airport Industrial Park, you probably have missed the construction of a new facility.

While details are limited, Stericycle, a biohazardous medical waste disposal company, will occupy a new 6,000-square-foot building at 1590 Airways Boulevard.

Stericycle services Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Hendersonville and Brentwood.

Calls to Stericycle’s corporate office in Nashville were not returned.

MG Construction of Jackson is the lead contractor, and is looking at having the project completed by late June.
