Business Spotlight – Elizabeth Stokes named admissions director at Jackson Christian School

JACKSON, Tennessee – Jackson Christian School, a private, Christian-based college preparatory school located in Jackson, Tenn., is pleased to announce Elizabeth Stokes as admissions director effective June 1, 2023.

According to a press release from Janet Wylie – Jackson Christian’s director of marketing and public relations – Elizabeth has worked in the industry of fundraising, marketing, and development for 10  years. She served as director of marketing and development for The Jackson Symphony since 2021.

“We are proud to have Elizabeth as part of the Jackson Christian team,” said Blake Beckham, vice president of Advancement and Community Involvement, “Her passion for working with people and bettering our community is contagious, and we look forward to serving our student-families and potential families together.”

Stokes is a 2007 Jackson Christian graduate, and she, her husband, and soon-to-be three children have been a part of our Jackson Christian family since 2017.

Site plan approved for new homes in Palmer Woods

The consideration of a final plat for Palmer Woods, comprising of 24 lots has been approved by the Jackson Regional Municipal Planning Commission.

Submitted by Surveying Services, Inc., on behalf of Kingston Creek Partners, the site is located on Grande Pines Cove and consists of approximately 6.11 acres.

Toyota Tennessee marks 20th anniversary by awarding $20,000 grants to 5 local nonprofits

Since breaking ground in 2003, Toyota Tennessee has set the standard in advanced manufacturing, collaboration and community engagement.

Toyota Tennessee is one of nine Toyota plants in the United States and employs more than 400 people with a total investment of $425 million. The plant can produce 2.5 million engine blocks and transmission casings and housing every year that go into every Toyota and Lexus vehicle assembled in North America.

Toyota is estimated to support more than 17,000 jobs in Tennessee when combining direct employees, direct dealer and Toyota-dedicated supplier employees.

To honor that legacy, community and nonprofit leaders gathered on June 13 to celebrate the automaker’s 20th anniversary of manufacturing in the region.

Toyota Tennessee, formerly known as Bodine Aluminum, marked this anniversary by awarding five Jackson nonprofits with $20,000 each, totaling $100,000 to support ongoing work in the community. Partners honored include:

  • The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson
  • The Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse
  • The Jackson-Madison County School System, to support bringing the GreenpowerUSA electric race car program to schools
  • RIFA
  • The STAR Center

“We are grateful for the success and the relationships built in Jackson over the past 20 years,” said Wes Woods, president of Toyota Tennessee. “Core to our success is the dedication of our team; their drive for innovation and continuous improvement ensures we produce high-quality products that our customer’s need. We are excited to continue working with our partners and investing in this community.”

Toyota Tennessee has invested more than $2 million into local nonprofits, reflecting the company’s commitment to helping improve the communities where it operates.

Site plan approved for new car wash on Vann Drive

A preliminary site plan for a new car wash – Tidal Wave Auto Spa – which will be located at 788 Vann Drive, has been approved by the Jackson Municipal Regional Planning Commission.

An existing facility once home to Wings Etc. Grill & Pub – scheduled for demolition – is located on the property behind Walmart and across Vann Drive from Lowe’s.

The site plan – submitted by TWAS Properties, LLC on behalf of JSKK Investment, LLC – shows the facility will consist of 4,000-square-feet and will be constructed on approximately one acre.

When constructed, the automated car was will offer 22 vacuum stalls.
