BlueOval SK Batteries are Safe and Reliable

BlueOval SK will produce advanced lithium-ion batteries for future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky.

The design and packaging of BlueOval SK’s battery cell can help prevent fires. SK On has 20 years of battery safety and technology leadership experience. SK On is the only battery manufacturer that has not had a car fire due to the battery. Our fire safety team will be trained and likely look to work with local firefighters for education opportunities.

BlueOval SK’s battery manufacturing process is state of the art and not seen at many places in the United States. The plants at BlueOval City and BlueOval SK Battery Park will be temperature and humidity controlled. A portion of the plant operates in a dust-free environment. The facilities will be highly automated with a heavy dependence on robotics and extremely safe for workers.

Vehicles powered by BlueOval SK batteries should run between 250 and 400 miles on a single charge. The type of charger being used will determine how long it takes to charge the electric vehicle. A BlueOval SK battery will outlive the body of the car and last between 500,000 and 700,000 miles.
