Snow possible in West Tennessee

MEMPHIS, TN. - Federal Emergency Management Agency
Special Weather Statement issued January 5 by NWS Memphis TN
Areas Affected: including the entire WNWS 101.5 FM listening area.
Light snow accumulations are possible across the Mid-South
today through Friday evening. Snow totals are forecast to range
from a light dusting up to 1 inch. Impacts are expected to be
minor given the anticipated light accumulations. The primary
impacts will be potential travel problems, especially on elevated
road surfaces and secondary roads. Temperatures will be near or
below freezing Thursday evening through Saturday morning.

Light snow will continue this morning, mainly affecting portions
of northwest Tennessee, northeast Arkansas, and the Missouri
Bootheel. Accumulations will remain light, with the greatest
potential closer to the Kentucky state line.

A second system will approach the Mid-South late Thursday night.
A band of light snow is expected to develop over the area,
gradually shifting south by Friday evening. At this time, this
snow band is expected to remain along and south of Interstate 40,
with the highest potential for accumulations up to 1 inch mainly
over north Mississippi. Light snow is forecast to taper off Friday
evening.
