From the Madison County Sheriff’s Office –
Madison County Sheriff John Mehr is proud to announce that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office has received a federal grant of $160,000 for the implementation of 81 body worn cameras.
The funds received will tremendously aid in the cost of the cameras and the server, which stores the video data from the camera.
This grant will be implemented in three phases, the first of which include School Resource Officers, then Patrol Officers, followed by Court Services.
Sheriff Mehr noted that the body worn cameras are compatible with the in car video systems that are currently in place, providing Deputies with an easy transition and cost efficiency.
Sheriff John Mehr is pleased to be awarded this grant, as it helps to provide increased transparency between the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Madison County.
