Jackson’s Rick Hobbs, a long-time listener to NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, became a first-time caller when Sea Bass and Amy Allen – ‘The Cheap Seats,’ 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., weeknights – opened up the airwaves for those hoping to win a cruise to the Bahamas during March Madness, courtesy of Mary Foster at Diversity Travels.
With 68 numbers available, Rick selected No. 62, which just so happened to be the University of Connecticut, the eventual winner of the men’s NCAA basketball national title.
“I had not seen UConn play this year, but I knew they had a good team,” Hobbs said, “I was hoping for a team that had a chance.”
Originally from Fancy Farm, Ky., Rick said a cruise remains in the works, but he’s looking at maybe trading the Bahamas for a trip to the Cayman Islands or Turks and Caicos Islands as part of the four-night package.
