While school will still be in session for a few more days – there will be a bit of nostalgia when an open house is held at Pope Elementary School, 1071 Old Humboldt Road, Tuesday.

The event – which is open to the public – will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, and the opportunity is there for those who attended the school, had a child or children enrolled at the school, or may have never stepped foot inside the facility, to take one last look before students began classes at the new Pre K-8 Pope School, 1081 Ashport Road, in August.

Henson Construction Services Inc. of Jackson is the lead contractor on the 143,000 square foot facility, which will be located near Pleasant Plains Road.

The total cost of the facility – fees, equipment, furnishings – is approximately $48 million.
