Jackson police are investigating the murder of 53-year-old John Wesley Williams.
Shortly after 7 p.m., police were called about a homicide. Williams' body was discovered inside a vacant house at 104 Second Street. Officers learned that Williams had been living in the house.
Investigators and an assistant medical examiner were summoned to the scene. The preliminary cause of death was determined to be blunt force injuries.
Williams' body was sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville for autopsy.
Investigators were questioning a person of interest late Friday night.
