JACKSON Tenn (July 21, 2015) — Gunfire erupts on Hatton Street in midtown Jackson.

Around 8:40 p.m. Monday night Jackson police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of the Regional Inter-Faith Association.  Officers were flagged down by a citizen who took officers to the scene of the shots fired.

According to witnesses, shots were fired toward a house in the 100 block of Hatton Street from a car sitting in an alleyway.

Police confirm that multiple shell casing were found at the scene.  Lt. Gary Benton said, there did not appear to be any injured victims.  The investigation is ongoing.

Witnesses at the scene said a man was filling a water bowl for a dog when someone started shooting from a car in an alley.  Then, according to witnesses, someone came out of the house that was being shot at and fired back at the car.

Police said they recovered less than a dozen rounds but could not say how many different caliber casings were found.

This is the third shots fired call to this area since July 6.
