Police Chief Phillip Kemper has submitted his letter of resignation to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen with the intention of resigning in the coming weeks. Over the next few weeks, he intends to stay and aid in the transition process as the city hires a new Chief of Police. The City of Medina would like to thank Chief Kemper for his service and leadership to this city and its citizens for the past 18 months. – Medina Mayor Scottie Betts

In his letter to Scottie Betts, Mayor of Medina, Chief Kemper said his last day of employment will be August 14, 2026.

He stated ‘over the last 18 months, we have made many advancements as a department, and I am proud to have been part of that progress. I am confident that the Medina Police Department will continue to build upon these accomplishments and provide the excellent service that the citizens of Medina deserve.’

Kemper added while the decision is a difficult one, ‘my future family plans dictate the need for me to relocate to Middle Tennessee.

‘This move is personal and (a) family decision, and it is with a great deal of appreciation and respect for the City of Medina I submit my resignation.’
