­(April 24, 2014) Jackson Tenn – Jackson Police Chief Gil Kendrick released a statement today confirming an ongoing rape investigation that involves a Jackson Police officer. There aren't many details of the investigation available.

According to the Chief, the victim, a 39 year-old woman, is an acquaintance of the police officer. The allegation is that the rape occurred at her Jackson apartment.  The officer is a patrolman with the Jackson Police Department and he has less than two years with the department.

According to Chief Kendrick, The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. 

The investigation is ongoing.
