[JACKSON, TN]— The Jackson Police Department (JPD) has announced the arrest and formal charging of Cordayvious Ballard, 18, in relation to the shooting death of 19-year-old Marrione Parks.

The incident occurred on March 30, 2026, on Cartmell Street. On the morning of March 31, officers discovered Mr. Parks deceased on the front steps of his residence.

Following an intensive investigation, Major Crimes Division investigators identified Ballard as a suspect through a combination of witness cooperation and the review of area video surveillance. During a subsequent interview on April 23, 2026, Ballard provided a statement to investigators admitting to his involvement in the crime.

Ballard has been formally charged with First Degree Murder and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Jackson City Court.
