The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department now accepts walk-in patients wanting a flu shot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
According to a press release from Mallory Cooke –  Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department Public Information Officer – patients getting the flu vaccine do not need an appointment during that time period.
Flu shots are free for patients with the following insurance providers:
ï‚· United Healthcare Commercial
ï‚· TennCare
ï‚· BlueCross BlueShield
ï‚· BlueCare
ï‚· Medicare
ï‚· Cigna PPO
ï‚· Cigna Open Access Plus
ï‚· Cigna Local Plus Direct
ï‚· Aetna
ï‚· Amerigroup
Health department nurses travel. They are available to give flu shots at businesses in Madison County wanting to make sure their employees get vaccinated.
We also offer a high-dose flu vaccine for people ages 65 and older.
The Centers and Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone six months of age and older get a flu vaccine every year. The flu vaccine is especially important for infants, young children, pregnant women, adults over age 50 and those with chronic medical conditions.
