Play in the 12th annual Albert A. Stone Jr. Golf Tournament heads for the Jackson Country Club, Saturday.
The field has been whittled to 16 after two rounds of stroke play, and Aaron Ingalls – a project manager with Brasfield Construction Company – enters match play realizing exactly what is at stake.
The tournament champion is recognized as the best amateur golfer in Jackson-Madison County.
“I’ll take it one shot at a time, and try not to get ahead of myself,” Ingalls said. “You want to play your game. You’re playing one opponent at a time … not scoreboard watching.”
Participants won’t have long to catch their breath – the tournament’s quarterfinals will be held Saturday afternoon.
The semifinals and final will be held Sunday, also at Jackson Country Club.
In the Senior Stone Cup, Leroy Murphy is looking for a third straight title.
Andy Rushing completed stroke play as medalist, and joins Chris Simmons and Murphy when play begins Saturday.
Claire Henson and Katy Jo Reilly will compete for the Beverly Pearce Cup.
