JACKSON, Tn…On Monday city demolition crews brought down the fourth tower of the Bemis
Mill Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist said this was the final tower of the mill and
the most difficult to demolish due to its proximity to residential homes.
The city officially took possession of the property in May of 2017 after
the contractor failed to cleanup after removing reclaimable material.
Mayor Gist said he expects the clean up the site to cost around $200,000.
Gist said the city will begin construction on a memorial park once the
demolition is cleaned up.
