When visiting Sassafras at The Walk – 11 Jackson Walk Plaza – in downtown Jackson, you realize there is a different feel when you first enter this retail store that offers clothing, accessories and gifts.

“The best reward is – everybody who walks through that door – our conversation somehow turns to the Lord and what He has done,” said Angie Atwood, who owns Sassafras. “We have a prayer wall, and there are people who walk in the store and bring the heaviness and the weight on a daily basis we just don’t know about.

“A lady came in last week and her husband had State 4 lung cancer and a brain tumor and that was way more important than any shirt she could pick out.”

Angie Atwood, who bought the business from a close friend, reopened the store April 30, and didn’t hesitate when defining what Sassafras offers.

“I like to have items in the store you can’t get anywhere else in Jackson,” Angie said. “I don’t like to have what everybody else has. I have prided myself on filling this store with items you can’t get in other places in Jackson.”

Items that include Ambre Perfume, which is made with essential oils, Molecule Perfume and Vuori clothing, which is an American contemporary clothing brand headquartered in San Diego, and is one of a few items Angie carries that can be found with limited inventory in north Jackson.

“We have the largest (Vuori) selection in Jackson,” Angie said. “We cannot keep it in stock. Ambre perfume, natural oils, unique jewelry, jeans … items you cannot find in other stores in Jackson.”
