FHU’s 2nd annual ‘Equip Ministry Camp’ building foundations for service and leadership

Henderson, Tennessee – In an effort to provide foundational support and training to tomorrow’s church leaders, FHU invites young men 13 to 19-years-old to participate in the second annual Equip Ministry Camp, hosted by the College of Biblical Studies at Freed-Hardeman University. The event will host 48 campers on the FHU campus Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30.

“This camp provides a unique opportunity for young men interested in ministry to have access to some of the leading ministers at Freed-Hardeman and in the kingdom,” Dr. Doug Burleson, director of Equip Ministry camp, said. “We are committed to giving all who attend our very best so that they might excel in ministry and bless others for the rest of their lives.”

Equip Ministry Camp states that its mission is to provide a learning environment for young men to study the Word of God, prepare and present lessons, and enhance their ability to minister in a congregational setting. The week’s schedule will include time with mentors, collaborative preparation for ministry and relationship-building activities.

Campers will stay in comfortable dorm rooms on campus while attending specialized classes taught by FHU College of Biblical Studies faculty members and other invited guests. All lessons and activities are designed to emphasize four key areas of ministry: biblical interpretation, preparing and delivering lessons, apologetics and community engagement.

At the end of the week, each participant will present a lesson that has been prepared with the help of teachers and mentors.

“The immersive ministry experience at Equip Ministry Camp offers young men a formative opportunity, guided by experienced mentors who are both active ministers and educators,” FHU President David R. Shannon said. “This unique environment stirs the passion for ministry while building knowledge, wisdom and lasting connections. The depth of growth achieved in just a few days is remarkable.”

Upon approval, the camp fee for each participant is $150. A tentative daily schedule and application instructions are available at fhu.edu/equip-ministry-camp. For more information, contact Burleson at dburleson@fhu.edu.
