A building that stood for 97 years should be leveled by the end of Thursday.
The former home of Sidney David Florist, 1362 South Highland Avenue, is being demolished by Bosco Contractor Services.
“It will be down today,” Lou Bosco said. “It will take about three or four days for us to clean up and haul everything off. We have about 12 projects going on, so I’ll be here off and on throughout the day.”
Work on demolishing the building started from the back of the property because of the proximity of the facility and South Highland Avenue.
Lou Bosco said the demolition will make the property more marketable, but added the property, which offers about 275-feet of frontage – has not been sold.
“The project will be a complete removal to allow for future expansion on the property,” Bosco said.
Sidney David, who owned the floral business, opened the South Highland location, December 13, 1964.
Sidney David Florist opened January 5, 1950, and closed in 2013.
