Jackson, Tenn. – The City of Jackson’s Employee of the Month initiative is designed to formally recognize and reward city employees who consistently demonstrate exceptional performance, professionalism, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
Darius Mullin has been selected as the Employee of the Month for July 2026. Mullin is the Recreation Coordinator with our Parks & Recreation Department.
According to his nomination, Darius developed an internship program that has grown over the last 2 years.
Additionally, he hosted a research forum on July 28th at Cypress for the interns to present their findings. He also invited other naturalists to present their regional research, including representation from TN State Parks, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, West Tennessee River Basin Authority, Union University, and Lane College.

“The City of Jackson and local universities are very fortunate to have Darius here,” said Jackson Parks & Rec Executive Director Christi David. “I can tell that he enjoys coming to work every day. He’s even mentioned that Cypress Grove is his Disney World. You can see it in everything he does.”
“Our employees are the backbone of this city, and it is essential that we acknowledge those who go above and beyond in their daily duties,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “This program is a crucial step in fostering a culture of excellence and showing our dedicated staff how much their contributions are valued.”
