A crowd of over 900 engaged community members and sponsors at the Jackson Fairgrounds participated in an historic night for The STAR Center.
According to a press release, viewers from EPlus TV’s broadcast and Hub City Brewing’s watch party
watched as the STAR Center’s largest fundraiser came to fruition.
The event featured 10 couples that ranged from nurses to business owners, photographers, meteorologists, and soccer coaches.
“People do not realize the impact that this event can have on the STAR Center for both awareness and the services that we can provide for our clients,” said Cassidy Sheppard, Manager of Marketing and Events for The STAR Center. “We had several tables of clients in attendance, and they were able to experience the love, excitement, and support from the community firsthand.”
The coveted mirror ball trophies were awarded to 2019 Dancing with the STARs Grand Champions, Monica Lopez Hagen and Seth Rudd.
Monica Hagen is a photographer for B3 Creative Agency and Monica Lopez Hagen Photography, and her partner, Seth Rudd, is the Chief Financial Officer for Leaders Credit Union.
Kim Borden was the Choreographer.
Monica and Seth’s performance gave tribute to the Rockabilly music that put Jackson, Tennessee on the map.
Shelby Matthis and Moe Shamell swept the People’s Choice Award and brought in over $12,500 ($12,785).
“It is one of the hottest tickets in town,” said Dave Bratcher, STAR Center President. “There are many
corporate sponsors to recognize, including our Presenting Sponsor, Leaders Credit Union
“This event is successful because our West Tennessee community does what it has done for the last thirty-one years – supports the work of the STAR Center.”
October 17, 2019, will go down as the largest fundraising event in the STAR Center’s thirty-one-year history.
Over $230,000 ($234,482) was raised during Dancing with the STARs.
“Without donors, we would not be able to serve those in our community who are searching for hope,” Cassidy Sheppard said, “Whether STAR is serving babies who are born addicted or helping seniors live independently, the mission of the STAR Center is what drives the teams to fund raise and prepare for the competition.
“We consistently hear how our dancers have pushed through what they thought were limitations.
“Donations make it possible for people that come to the STAR Center to turn their challenges into opportunities and rise above their circumstances.”
