(November 21, 2013) Jackson, Tenn.- Jackson Police held their community outreach event “Coffee with a Cop” on Thursday morning.
Citizens were invited to come to the Firefly Cafe located inside of the Jackson Lift Fitness Center and share their concerns and ideas with those on the force.
Coffee with a Cop has been going on for around two years now with an event scheduled every 2 or three months a year.
After the event, the police look at surveys that have been filled out and work on ways to implement their suggestions or assuage their concerns.
Abe Jones with the Jackson Police Department Crime Prevention Unit, spoke to us about the event. He’s been with the department for about 37 years, and in this unit for 4 years.

There are other ways to get involved with the Jackson Police Department. One of those ways is through the Citizens Police Academy.
The next Academy begins on April 1 and the department is accepting applications year round. Applications can be found at the Jackson Police Department Website.
