HUMBOLDT Tenn — On Friday the state’s top financial director stopped in Humboldt to talk with parents about college savings
Commissioner David Lillard was the guest speaker at Humboldt Rotary Club meeting . Lillard was in town to talk about the Tennessee Stars Program
The state treasurer made a stop in West Tennessee on Friday to talk residents about a way the state will help you afford college for your kids. The commissioner called it college savings made easy and added parents, family and friends can save for a child’s future college costs.
The Tennessee Stars Program was created for low-income families to save and invest in higher education. Recognizing the need for a highly skilled workforce and the role that higher education plays in achieving that goal, the State of Tennessee has developed the TNStars College Savings 529 Program, a program of the Tennessee Treasury Department.
The program offers parents and other relatives a low-cost way to save for children’s college expenses with attractive investment options and special tax advantages.
