Henderson – Chester County Youth Theater presents Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” with two performances at 7 p.m. Friday, June 28 and 4 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Freed-Hardman University’s Loyd Auditorium, 158 E. Main Street.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under).
According to a press release from the Bramblett Group, which is now in its fourth year, the two-week summer theater camp has hit its stride.
This year’s performance is the group’s longest and most ambitious performance yet. Previous theater camp performances include “Lion King Kids”, “Aladdin Kids” and “Willy Wonka Kids.” In addition, students performed two plays during the school year “Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit” and “Sally Cotter and the Censored Stone.”
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” runs for an hour and half and includes a cast of 50 students, according to Becky Hartle, theater camp director. “The kids are taking care of business and they’re dedicated to the show,” Hartle said. The campers have spent the last week learning choreography from Paige Wilson, music with Lauren Malecha and blocking with Hartle. This week campers will have dress rehearsals in preparation for their two performances.
“This is a family friendly, fun-loving show and a true Disney classic and when you put it all together, it’s magical,” Hartle said.
This year’s performance will include an intermission and concessions to purchase.
The public is encouraged to support students’ performances this weekend. All proceeds will benefit the Chester County Youth Theater. Chester County students in the fourth through eighth grade are eligible to participate.
