Authorities formally charged a man accused in a Christmas Day shooting.

Tavaris Golden was in Jackson City Court to be charged with attempted
first-degree murder.

According to police, the victim required emergency surgery after allegedly
being shot by Golden on Christmas Day. 

Court records say officers found a spent 12-gauge shell case near the
scene of 520 Preston Street.

Tavaris Golden is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of
$200,000 bond.
