JACKSON, Tennessee – The Miss Volunteer America Pageant kicked off with an exciting first night of preliminary competition at the historic Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson, Tennessee. Preliminary winners were announced in two key categories: Fitness & Wellness and Talent.
Miss Ohio Volunteer, Baylee Joy Martin, was awarded the Fitness & Wellness Preliminary Award, earning a $500 scholarship generously sponsored by Morgan Morgan Fitness.
Miss Washington Volunteer, Sofia Da Silva, captured the Talent Preliminary Award with a captivating performance of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” that wowed both judges and the audience.
Preliminary competitions – doors open at 6:30 p.m., activities begin at 7 p.m. – continue nightly through Friday, June 20, leading up to the final competition and crowning on Saturday, June 21.
