From the Madison County Sheriff’s Office –
This morning just after midnight at Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a vehicle crash at the Shell Station, located at 151 Law Road, just south of I-40 Exit 93.
While en route, Dispatch received several other 911 calls stating that a female driver had tried to hit the gas pump at the Shell station, exited the vehicle with a small child, proceeded to walk over to the I 40, Exit 93 overpass and disappeared.
A few minutes later, Dispatch received another call from a truck driver stating that a large object fell from the bridge and struck his truck as he was traveling west bound on I-40 at the Exit 93 bridge.
Upon arrival Deputies observed two (2) deceased bodies lying in the roadway. The bodies were later identified as Tonisha Lashay Barker, age 26 and a child.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and Madison County Fire Department (MCFD) both assisted in this investigation.
