Bredesen campaign makes stop in Jackson, Monday

With only hours remaining before Election Day, Phil Bredesen, Tennessee’s Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, made one final campaign stop in Jackson, Monday.

“This office was one I had not planned to run for,” said Bredesen, during the rally at West Alley BBQ, “When I left the governor’s office, I thought that was it. I truly enjoyed that job (but) I felt like we had some unfinished business.”

Namely healthcare.

“We have really got to do what it takes to protect the ability of people who’ve got pre-existing conditions, Bredesen said, “… 225,000 would have difficult times getting insurance in other places.”

Bredesen also said both the Democrats and Republicans have got to find a common cause instead of the biparisan politics that exists, today.

“I hate how partisan it has gotten,” Bredesen said, “People forget about who elected them in the first place.”

John Tanner is the former U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 8th congressional district (1989-2011) said Monday’s turnout gives him even more optimism about Bredesen’s chances.

“I am optimistic because of the enthusiasm I have seen for Gov. Bredesen’s temperate, reasonable policies he has articulated through the campaign.

“People around here know what he did as governor for West Tennessee, and I’m encouraged by this turnout. I feel confident the people in Tennessee want to shake up Washington.”
